WILLIAM II
It’s cold and the snow won’t stop. It’s been snowfall upon snowfall. We are already in the top 10 most snowiest winters and it’s only January!
I could focus on this or share with you my view from my kitchen window.
The girls wanted to build a fort and play outside. So after the ten minutes of prep to head out into a Minnesota winter, I casually mentioned I would like a snowman.
They were outside for over an hour. I assumed they were building the best Fort ever! Boy was I surprised when my youngest came inside and said, "Mom, look out the window."
I stopped what I was doing and headed to the kitchen window. I smiled and waved - then then turned away from the window and cried.
The last few months have been hard and in that moment it was like God whispered... you are doing well, mama.
My kids didn't do what they wanted to do - build an epic fort under the pine trees. Instead they acted selflessly and made me, William II. (Don't ask, I never met William I).
Pause and reflect.
When did your child let another child go down the slide first? They learned that from you.
When did your child share with their sibling? They learned that from you.
When did they hold a door for a stranger? They learned that from you.
Too often we see all of the things we wish they would do and miss what they have learned and are doing.
Don’t ever forget…Mama, you are doing well.
