Challenge: Find one person...
With all that’s happening in our world it easy to be overwhelmed. To want to hide and not connect with others. I’ve been discouraged by what I am seeing in the news, how I feel when I’m in stores, I am so sad with the way people are treating one another.
But this morning as I watched our youngest daughter brush her teeth I was reminded of my responsibility to my daughters. If I want a life filled with hope and love for my girls, I must model it, even when I don’t feel like it. And honestly — I haven’t felt like it.
So I was thinking what can I do? How can I show up differently? How can I model love and kindness for my girls to others outside of our four walls?
For homeschool, my kids often have a question of the day. It provides them an opportunity to think creatively or logically (depending on the kiddo) and practice their writing. So I started thinking what if I gave myself a challenge of the day…
The challenge is to find at least one person to compliment or encourage. Just one.
Text a friend and let them know you are thinking about them.
Send a co-worker a meme.
Hold the door open for someone - yes it’s Covid - hold the door anyway.
Compliment the store clerks eye color.
Does that color look good on someone - tell them! It doesn’t matter if it’s a stranger.
Send a card in the mail. Handwritten cards and notes are truly priceless these days.
Start making your list...as a fresh start, a mission to spread kindness, change the world...whatever you want to call it. But do it.
Share what you did or what you are going to do. I have a feeling these coming months are going to be hard - I’ll need more ideas.
Lets bring humanity and connection back into our world.
